ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s main opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has called on its supporters across the country to join a multi-day mass gathering in the northwestern district of Swabi, signaling a renewed push against the current coalition government.
The party’s official overseas chapters announced that convoys from various regions of Pakistan are expected to converge on the historic district along the Indus River from Oct. 11 through Oct. 13. Swabi, which borders the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, serves as a strategic geographic hub for the party, which holds significant political power in the northwestern region.
All roads lead to Swabi. Every step leads to a people's revolution!

Organizers have framed the three-day mobilization as a major public demonstration, describing the movement as a step toward a political shift in the South Asian nation. The rally comes amid ongoing political tensions in Pakistan, where the opposition continues to demand electoral reforms and the release of detained political leaders, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Local authorities in neighboring Punjab and Islamabad have previously tightened security and placed shipping containers to block key transit routes during similar opposition movements. It remains unclear how heavily the federal administration will restrict movement along the highways connecting Punjab to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stronghold.
Party leaders urge peaceful participation, though prior demonstrations have frequently led to standoffs between opposition activists and law enforcement personnel. Convoys are expected to arrive in successive waves over the next 48 hours, with major public addresses planned near the provincial border.
